Bio

John Kheit is a partner at Hanchuk Kheit LLP with expertise in design, innovation, Intellectual Property (IP) asset creation & portfolio development, licensing transactions, litigation, and strategy. He co-founded the firm in 2014.

John's practice focuses on representing a variety of technology-focused companies across a variety of industries, including: advertising, biomedical, communications, computer hardware, software (e.g., e-commerce, gaming, financial services, green energy, microprocessor, mobile, networking, payment systems, wireless), and many other leading edge technology sectors. He has helped innovators capture IP around pure software technologies (that include computation, compression, data-structures, digital rights management, e-commerce, financial instruments, graphical user interfaces, Internet and peer-to-peer networking, machine learning, processing and compositing, etc.).

Also, John is experienced in technology transfers, open source and transactional licensing. In addition, he has been involved with various US and international settlement negotiations and litigation matters including copyrights and Internet and commerce-related patents.

John's work experience spans high-technology, corporate, and academic arenas. He was involved with the technical development of software at companies such as NeXT Computer, as well as working with companies such as Time Warner. In addition, he taught at the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Harvard University and the University of Toledo Law School. Prior to co-founding Hanchuk Kheit LLP, John was a partner at Cooley LLP, and prior to that, a partner and chair of the Mobile Technology practice at Chadbourne & Parke LLP.
